I'm a newbie!

Hello everyone. I'm new to freebanding and i thought i'd introduce myself. I've had a amateur foundation licence since 2003. I gave up the hobby in 2005, after discovering that many "old boy" hams were refusing to answer my CQ's, and many refuse to have any contact with M3's or M6's at all. I sold all my gear apart from my trusty Watson W-25AM power supply and off i went.

So i'm back and I've got a Sirio GPE27 5/8 wave, and a new Magnum Omegaforce S45 radio, all from Knights. Just got to get it set up this weekend if i have the time.

And hopefully i can get my 7 year old son into it too (26FB304).

Simon

Hi Simon, nice to have you on board. Not going to go into the ins and out of Ham Radio but I will say stick to 555.

Hi Simon and welcome to FB`s. Freeband operators are a much more friendly bunch. Lets hope your son enjoys the hobby as well.

Hi Simon and welcome,

I'm an M1, but I never use it, I had the same experience as you when I was an M3, I got my full call just before they changed the rules to make you do the 2E0 before you could go for the full, just because I knew I could do it basically.

Even now I have a full call, and I could probably get a QSO out of these old timers, I'm not sure that I want to though, radio for me is a hobby and about having fun, not trying to segregate yourself from others and try to make out your better than the people who "didn't take a real test" to quote some of them.

I think you'll find 99% of freeband users thinking the same way I do, we're all just here to have fun and to enjoy our hobby, so, welcome back to the fold, and most of all, enjoy it!

Hi Simon & welcome.

You will be hard pushed to find a friendlier bunch.

My 10yr old had a QSO with another FB member from Italy recently which sparked interest. Maybe if the conditions are good & they stay interested they will QSO one day.

Welcome Simon,

As everywhere in the live, there are a lot of DONKEYS in ham bands as in CB.

But keep the the good times and forget those DONKEYS. Dont spend neither a second of ur live remembering that.

Im also a newbie here in FREEBANDING, I tell you there is a very friendly ambient here.

Im also HAM licenced, but mainly digital activity there. (And now learning CW. hahaha)
