found this on a ham site seems like another nail in the coffin of radio.
Anyone read the article on page 80/81 of this months Radcom- Home Powerline Networks and Filterless PC PSU's.
Makes for very scary reading and ends with the thought that eventually nobody will be able to use HF at all.
By the way, yesterday I switched over to 5mhz to find out it was unusable due to my neighbours having one of the BT powerline systems installed, it also affects most of the shortwave general coverage as well! These devices are now given away free with BT Vision and broadband installation.
We should be more worried about this than who has the best transciever and what shiny bit of HF equipment we are buying next.
Time to buy this log periodic for VHF me thinks....

the ham bands are quiet well notched out around here, i think its right next door and the ham bands are ok. its everything above 5-6Mhz not in a ham band that is wiped out, although i did have a qso on 6665 the other day into spain and scotland but they have to be over S7-8 to be heard and understood. I will be complaining again to ofcom when i get permenant antennas up.

I nearly packed it all in as a bad job before I became aware of the nature of the problem - it can be that severe.

I think my first steps towards identifying the source was seeing the original petition advertised on here, and a follow-up revealed the UKQRM site where i was able to positively identify it.

Ofcom followed, and the units were switched off.

It'll happen again soon somewhere nere, I'm sure of that much, but now i know what to do about it. emoticon
