UK/EU legal AM/FM/SSB radio.
It’s been a long time for me, in fact it’s been about 20 years since I have DX’d, my set up was 2x cobra 148gtldx’s both with high high’s and low low’s running a K40 speech compressor mike star duster home base twig and I use to run around 90watts on SSB but mostly I went QRP i.e. 12 watts, but recently when I was surfing the web I found an advert stating that SSB CB’s were now being sold here in the UK in compliance with EU law.
So to my question.
1) I see on the web here in the UK Ham/CB shops selling the President Jackson 2 as a European standard AM/FM/SSB unit with active SSB bands activated from a switch on the front, is this radio really legal here is SSB now legal in Europe and the UK?.
2) It states that there are 2 bands for legal SSB in Europe 1 for France and 1 for Spain are these channel in different bands i.e. 1 on mid 40 1 on low 40 or are they the both in the same block if so what part of the CB band are they??’

It's legal to sell/use this radio in the UK as you are supposed to choose the "UK" setting for use here - as with most new radios, it's possible to choose the country you are in, and the radio will automatically adopt the correct and legal frequencies for that country.
For the Uk, this will exclude SSB, but will give you the UK27/81 and EU40 (FM).
Of course you could always choose another country when you're in the Uk
