why do some people stay on 555 to chat,i dont mind when its quiet but when its busy its a right pain.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean - why they find it so difficult to QSY, I'll never know.
Usually running hundreds of watts just to talk to someone down the street too.

This cracks me up too.When I go mobile at night to work the groundwave from a local mountain(1200ft ASL),3 or 4 stations in Dublin on high power(all beside each other)Cursing and blinding away and point blank refuse to QSY,completly destroying any chance of recieving a DX reply on 555.So I have to hope that I can QSK on existing DX QSO's on other Frequencies.
