 You have to laugh
So I'm standing in the shack, surrounded by all this kit, the garden looks like an antenna farm, I've got 2m fm 145500 radio on, 2m SSB 144300 usb on, CB channel 19 on, 27555 USB on, 6m 110 SSB on and listening! Theres a sort of zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz sound from all these radios
And the missus walks in, "show me this radio thing then" she says.
errrm well theres errr no-one about right now. "you just sit in here and listen to that crackling sound all night?"
Well sometimes yes

But it's so true!
I used to go to sleep with the gentle hiss of SSB background noise (11 metres), late at night. As soon as anyone spoke, I'd wake up.
I also used to enjoy listening to the beginnings of the skip as daylight broke. Ahh - the good old days when I could set up station at home with zero QRM. No longer, unfortunately.
