11meter operators are the real gents of radio.

having just picked up my M6 and gotten all exited, bought an atu, listened alot to other bands.today i decided to give 10m a go as it was open and 11 was hectic.using my yaesu 817 putting out a watt on my atu,d 11 meter whip just for kicks,i called plenty of times at the qrp centre of activity with no reply and so upped the anti to massive 10 whole watts(yea my 817 is modified, naughty
) to which had response from G0??? in bury ,manchester.qso followed about my station and i began to feel as though a was under interigation about my power status.bear in mind, that from my hilltop location outside of stoke on trent,i can work phill 26sd121 southport, kevin 26gl002 in wigan with 1/2 watt fm no probs etc, etc.all more than twice the distance away from this bell end.
just as as i was going back to 11,i stayed on freq as you do.this prick called me a bullsitter to his little sad net group.
if this is how a new amateur is greeted, then they can suck me off next time i go on there.
yes,i am upset.the fact of the time and money invested in achieving and furthering my hobby of radio has been met by someone who is obviously in it for the wrong reasons.upset that someone so unhappy with the state of their existence has had an affect on me.
long live 11.i have never once had a bad experience on and around 555.

Not all like that Brent, but must admit Ive not been on amatuer bands for ages now, its 11m for me to but dont let just one bad contact spoil it for you, just think, you could have picked a bad first contact on 11meters and gave that up. Plenty of good guys on both but 11m does seem friendlier.

Brent, I'm sorry to hear of your unfortunate encounter. It is just this kind of thing which keeps many on the freebands.

Maybe one day these biggots will wake up and realise that it is the newcomers to amateur radio who will be the ones who will keep it alive, not the old boys.

I'll hopefully soon be an M6 myself, but also hope to meet only like-minded people, not the idiots who unfortunately seem to infiltrate just about every hobby there is.

thanks for the replies.just read over my comment.must have been my time of the month.i sound like a bird lol.
i always like to treat others as i would like to be treated and this joker was a turd.
suppose ill cringe about it in a week or two as in general, im pretty confident and unflustered about most things.suppose its like the first day in anything....school,new job etc.new bands are no different.the pressure to conform.
B MAN 99 CONFORMS TO NO MAN so MoNG0 beware.

hey stuff him brent, theres loads of friendly helpul types out there and loads of muppets. just like CB except a bit more snobby like. I have been totally ignored so at least he answered you, its us fresh'uns that will be transmitting way longer than all the stiffnecks out there so dont be disheartend... mind you saying all this on my holiday the last week i had more fun on 11m than any other band i tried.

I learnt morse many years ago and still remember some of it.

If you are prepared to send slowly (Farnsworth slow) then I'd be up for a go.
