homebrew 20m beam?

Ok, I know there is loads of info out there but has anyone made one and can recomend a reliable source with easy instructions? Dont want to spend ages making one only to find out its no good!
Had first contact today on HF, Bulgaria, 2nd into Canada, couldnt believe it, and on a home made dipole.

Hadnt thought this through very well, with just having the 20m dipole thats really the only band I have listened to, think I should leave for a bit and decide later. I bought a Kenwood480sat Keith - I can read the frequencies without my glasses! Not the best reason for choosing a radio I know, but it helped.
Cheers Paddy, I have found lots of sites but wanted to see if anyone on here had made one of them first. The structure of them seems easy enough but dont understand the gamma match bit, am more of a hands on person, I can read about them for days but I need to see it up close and touch it!

Any joy with this project yet Al?? If you have the space for it then you are lucky.

I spotted an article in a RSGB book about using a A99 for a good few bands. he reckons it will tune low SWR on 18,21,24,28Mhz bands.

I tried my Silver Rod and got reasonably good results on 7,14 and of course 28Mhz.but the internal ATU wont do it you need an external like my Z11 pro.

Let me Know if you need a hand you know I love Antenna construction

I tried my A99 and found the tuner will tune it on 6m as well, not tried that band before, no one on it though.
Its been to cold to play about outside so waiting for weather to improve a bit (lot), then I`ll have another look, dont worry, will be on phone if I need help or not!! I may try a G5RV, been told my internal tuner wont tune it but you never know. Still want a beam as well though

it may be "forced" to tune on other bands but it will not be properly tuned and will not work as it should. a 1/4 wave 20 metre ant can be made by removing the balun coil from a cb silver rod (replace it with a 2 inch copper wire) and adjusting the length to suit the frequency CHEAPER THAN CHIPS.

Have you managed to build one yet ?
I have had great results on my half size G5RV and internal tuner on my Kenwood ts 570d.
It tunes all the way from 80 to 10 without gaps.
However i need an external tuner to get my sirio vector 4000 tuned below 24mhz

NOT A BEAM BUT IT REALLY WORKS .get yourself a halfwave silver rod type cb antenna remove the coil, wire straight thought and shorten the antenna to about 16'5, ground mount it no more than a foot above ground, use a good earth rod.... this antenna will tune 20mtrs no atu needed... it works really well.
