Bit of practical today
well today was spent watching slide shows and a bt film on radio waves. also built a dipole and calculated wat frequency a length of wire would work at...... yawn, nearly fell asleep watchin bt film. Nearly told them i had already built a dipole with a balun but thought i best not as it was for 11m ,,,,,,, yawns... exam date 27th feb

Did the practical course explain why a choke balun is a good idea if you are feeding a balanced antenna with unbalancd feeder??
I thought not.
I really must get my ass in gear and sort out the foundation exam.

no just that a balun was a choke and would help with tvi and rf coming back down the braid, i did ask why the diferent baluns, ie, 4:1, 1:1 ect but they said they didnt want to confuse me as they were teachin me to pass the foundation and to just take that on board first,, lol

You also get a different call sign, I mean, a new call AND 50 watts how can you not take it? There may be more but there the ones I know anyway, you would learn new stuff to!
