No doubt you`ll pass, we had about 14 on our course and we all passed, you just like to get them ALL right if your like me! I done the mock tests for a few weeks before the course, they do give a good idea of what to expect. Good luck anyway.

What??!
You a Morse man?

I did start learning ages ago and still think it's the best mode for readability at very low signal strengths.

Like learning a new language though, and as I'm a bit thick I find it difficult.

Have enough trouble with English, and youd think being from Wales I could at least speak that but cant, learning another language is hard, some just seem to pick it up, I`m not one of them!

i wont be learning morse, just whatever i need for foundation. its only to cover all my radio gear having the licence, and to allow me to have antennas up without having too much bother. I think this country is a bit of a joke really, 50 watts is ****e and 400 watts with a full licence is a bit poo. when you consider usa and alot of europe are using kilo watts. I'll stick with my 10 watts and a learner callsign, lol emoticon

hopefully wont be using the callsign too often emoticon emoticon

if someone like me can pass the real RAE city and guilds jobby 20 years ago, the modern test should be easy easy... i wouldnt worry about it, when you pass the advanced you will sell all your stuff and go QRT anyway, then come back on 6 years later having forgot all you learned.thats the usual course of events!!!!!!

Blimey - the old RAE was a bit of a nasty test, I remember seeing example questions and answers in an old copy of Practical Wireless or something similar. I'm talking about before they adopted the miltiple guess format.

"Draw the circuit diagram of a Colpitts oscillatoer and describe its operation."

"Draw a circuit diagram of a 3 stage CW transmitter, describing its operation and incorporate measures to prevent key clicks and cirp, and descripe how these objectives are achieved."

****ttt!!

OK, I could do that, but what a difference to today's test!

As with Topbuzzuk, I'm only really looking to pass the tests to excuse the antennas and equipment, and in the event someone complained of interference I could prove my equipment was up to scratch and pass responsibility for curing the problem on to the complainant. emoticon

i dont know if kit inspections still occur, but it may be difficult explaining why your hf gear transmits on closed frequencies, and why you have an imax 2000 and a moonraker 4 tuned to 27mhz??????????just dont answer the door to ANYONE!!

I know my A99 works well on 10 and 12 meters, didnt realise it would work on 11 meters, have never tried 11 meters! And they are cheaper than HF aerials
