linear amp
can anyone help me with this one. tested transmission with linear last night, when on am/fm my ham jumbo signal meter goes straight back to receive mode, but when i key the mike on ssb there is a delay of about 3 seconds before it goes back to receive. sorry if this is obvious to some one but i have been away from radio for a very long time. also does anyone know were i could get the jumbo epromed , i bought it on e-bay and the seller said it was epromed , but it is not. any help would be most welcome.

Re: linear amp
Thats the relay in the amp. For SSB there is a delay as its the modulation that works the amplifier as there is no carrier unlike FM/AM.
The delay is necessary becuse when you talk there are loads of mini pauses that would click the amp on and off all the time. With the delay this doesnt happen. You dont have to use it. You can quite safely use the amp with it swithed on AM/FM whilst using SSB, but you wont get the relay delay so it may be annoying with the amp clicking on and off.
As for "eprom" I think you mean put the 27/81 frequenies into the radio as normally the Jumbo is cept. I'm not 100% sure about the Jumbo, but its not a major task, I'll find out for you.
