Hi
I got rid of my 101zd and have managed to get hold of a 735 that should be here next week.

I have read the reviews on eham etc, but i was wondering if anyone on here has anything to add, things to watch out for etc.
Really looking forward to being more active on EC when i get a decent antenna setup,,trap dipole for 80,40 and 20 maybe, just cut a bit longer lol.

Yes, I ran an IC 735, and as Paddy says I would rate this little radio very highly indeed emoticon

Fantastic audio from the SM 6 mic, which is all you'll ever need audio wise on this rig, if you have the standard fist mic its still good, but ny advice is look around for an SM 6. Its a small desk mic, too small for a, proper desk mic, and too big for a fist job. Brilliant sound though.

Easy to set up, and easy to "open up" if not already done. Not got all the bells and whistles but plenty enough. Great dual VFO's which really is extremely useful, and memories etc.

Filtering is pretty damn good as well, and you can hear just about anything if its there to be heard. You'll nearly always work what you can hear, and frankly, what else do you need?

I have a few cables etc. for the radio lying around, if you need anything please let me know. One word of warning, not all mics work with this radio and Icom have a power supply to power amplified mics through the radio. Be aware that this can cause damage if not wired correctly. emoticon

Good luck with it, you are unlikely to be disappointed emoticon

Cheers for the input

The icom is supplied with the standard fist microphone, but i will keep my eyes open for that one you mentioned Dave.
Looking forward to the variable power output as i used to create havoc here with the yaesu 101 on 86m.
Speaking of microphones i have in the shack an old Sadelta echo master plus, does anyone know if this would be a suitable match for the 735 ?
dont worry i wont use the echo or bleep lol
