hi there, anyone got any comments on the magnum 257 is it any better than the superstar 3900.

the modulation on my old ss3900 dies when it warms up, its the one without the heatsink on the rear.
I'm thinking of replacing it with a magnum 257.

Get a good one and the 257 is fine, unfortunately many suffer from reliability issues. New 3900's start at £140 which may be the way to go if you've got the Superstar frequency counter already - either that, or get the one you've got fixed, as when they're set-up right, they certainly get out well.
One thing to try with the 3900 - open the radio up and check all the screws that hold the circuit board in place are tight - if they're loose, it'll cause problems with the SSB mod.
