I've gone and bought a new radio!
Dont tell her in doors how much they cost. 
But I've bought a very very good example of a Icom IC-735. Never been opened up and still did not have the modification for all band TX. It has now though. I did the mod last night and it works a treeat. Only tested on FM muppet land as there was no-one listening in on 555.
I'll learn how to use all the bits and bobs and reveiw it properly as I go.
