YAESU FT857D?? any views on these? i like the compact size and i think you can wideband them with computer and lead. eham has very good reviews on the whole. anyone?

Re: YAESU FT857D?? I think you can only freeband the older ones with a PC.
I have 2 FT-817ND rigs.
One was made in 2004 and will freeband the other is a 2008 model and it won't.
I could do it by removing some solder links,but that would void the warranty.
Re: YAESU FT857D?? i bought a icom 706mk2G in the end, and very happy. stil learning to use it and find out what bits do, got a heil handmike too which i think sounds good(so ive been told).
