TS50S wideband mod done
well i picked up the TS50 today and the first thing i did when i got home was get on the net and find the wideband mod for it. I was a bit worried about cutting diodes out of a perfectly good working order radio but looked on a few sites to make sure everyone was saying the same thing. I also found that the radio i bought is a later one as it had 3 diodes that needed removing, not just 1 diode like the first TS50's. Anyway pressed the a-b button whilst switching on to reset everything and keyed up on 27.555, hey presto all working, got a report off a local everything all good.. yay!

Re: TS50S wideband mod done
i had a radio check on FM and they said it was crystal clear but a little quiet, also with the mic gain on high the meter still doesnt peak like i think it could on SSB. In the user manual it shows the pots to adjust for FM audio and SSB audio so i might give them a 1mm tweak and not over do it, i want to do this to the Icom aswell as i'm sure they are not as punchy as my ranger??? i need someone to record my audio on the receiving end so i can listen to it

Re: TS50S wideband mod done
Can you run a lead to the mic socket on your PC? jack to jacl, and record yourself on winamp, or similar ?

Re: TS50S wideband mod done
I wish i was as confident doing the mod, my radio will need doing as well soon. Never attempted anything like this before, gonna let someone else do it me thinks......would it be worth while whilst the radio is open to have him do anything else does anyone think? FT-840.....
