Avanti AV101 Astroplane / New Sirio Top One Just wondering if anybody has used one or has any experiences with the performance of this antenna.
A similar model used to be known as the Avanti AV-101 but Sirio has brought this modified version described as a 1/4 wave out again and named it the "Top One", (I am pretty sure the original design was a 5/8 wave?). I cannot find much UK info were this type of antenna can be bought.

I remember that from 1986 and all verticals whit capacitance hat work fine, when is shortned versions of antenna.
Re: Astroplane / New Sirio Top One i have seen these on various american sites! looks like they have changed it!looks almost the same as the cte topone!! and the originals by avanti/antenna specialists! apart from the gamma match!! the usa sell these for $119!!! not sure i would pay that much!! anybody know what that is in real money???... £60?? after tax/vat/shipping?? 73s.
New Sirio Top One UK Info I have been in touch with Truck-King regarding these antennas and they are not prepared to stock them as the Euro rate does not make it worth while importing them at the moment anyway.
Thunderpole Communications said they can supply an equivalent antenna by KP-O for £69.99 though I'm not sure about the quality of those.
There is a few flimsy looking copy's of this antenna about by CTE and other brands.
Anyway I would like to try one out as they are supposed to work very well at lower heights and if surrounded by hills or mountains as I am, so I got in touch with Sirio themselves in Italy who gave me the details of there distributors in the UK (Sharman MultiCOM LTD) Sharman say that this antenna should be available in the UK by Mid October for around £99. Knights will also be selling theses in mid October too for the same kind of price.
I'm still interested to here of any reviews or experiences with the original Avanti AV101 astroplane (or Tagra BT101?) from the 70s/80s, if anyone would care to write a short review it would be appreciated.
