I never even considered being able to use it on other bands John, it might be something to play with.

The coil was trial and error, origionally I was going to use enammeled copper wire, but that was going to be a pain to keep removing the enammel to try a new tapping point, so I went for the open coil way which was much easyer to find the tapping point just using a clothes peg to hold the wire onto the coil. I started with a 1M long coil, but that wasn't long enough, and purely by luck the 2M length of alli when coiled up seems to be the right size for the job.

I wanted resonant radials (or close to) after reading some interesting posts on another forum regarding vertical antenna's and how they are actually a balanced and should be fed with a balun. Eventually I'll knock up a 1:1 balun and give it a go to see if it makes any difference.

I'll have to buy some more alli tube and try 8 radials on it and see if that makes a difference too emoticon
