Sirio Tornado

Just wondering has anybody had any expieriance using this antenna, the Sirio Tornado 5/8th wave, I think it's loosely based on the old Sigma 2 (AV 170) and the USA version is called the Maco V 5/8th wave. The radials are shortened I think to about 4ft, and the antenna is 21ft high, surely if the ground planes where extended to about 8ft they would work better?

At half the price I wonder would it out perform an Solarcon Imax 2000...?

Re: Sirio Tornado

ahhh yes, i had one of these antennas for quiet a few years. It worked exactly the same as the sirio 827, it was just not as industrial build quality. It was more the thickness of say a silver rod than the thickness of the 827 but withstood alot of our weather. I think they are an excellent antenna and i would choose one over the imax(although i would like to try a imax and groundplane kit)anyday due to price. I have a antron99(new)and groundplane kit(new)i would swap for a decent 5/8wave.
