Re: Bremi BRL 500 linear amp project
BANG!
Not exactly but its stopped working for an unknown reason
It was working perfect and it just stopped with a small spark and some burning smell (Not good). No idea why, I havent had time to investigate, but its a component failure of some kind I'll just have to find the component

Re: Bremi BRL 500 linear amp project
Great project - well done!
Don't know about the fault - sounds like it may be a bit of wire with damaged insulation shorting out occasionally, or another component too close to the chassis. The arcing relay also suggests this.
What's the anode voltage on this one?
I'm guessing about 600 - 700 volts, so that's a fair bit of arcing potential.
Are the new electrolytics rated at the correct voltage? I'm guessing at 450 volts as Bremi like using voltage double circuits, which I'm not keen on as it can result in one electrolytic receiving reverse polarity every time you cease transmission if it is the smaller of the two in capacity. If one electrolytic has failed, this too will cause the problem.
