Re: 706 mic get an astatic teardrop wired up to it...... i spoke to a chap in cyprus and someone in kentucky today(14 mhz) with an astatic teardrop on, they were both in shock when i told them what mic i was using!!! they said it sounds like a BIG station. (i was actually mobile) at the time. why spend £150??
Re: 706 mic I can vouch for the above comment from Jim FB010 regarding the Astatic Teardrop (575 M6) mike, I have tried quite a few mikes and have found the teardrop to be the only one that consistently gets positive reports on any band (without even asking for an audio report), the other mikes I have used are not bad by any means including desk mikes, but the teardrop always comes out on top and has never had a negative comment.
The mikes are no longer made but there are loads of them about second hand and some places even still new if you shop about online.
