Tonight (May 25) I got a call from a friend to come down to one of our theaters, because he said they were screening Cameron Crowe's new movie... he wasn't sure what it was called. I immediately yelled that it must be Elizabethtown and it wasn't supposed to come out for months... I was so shocked! I rushed down there, we were asked a few questions at the door about what movies we like, and then given a ticket to go in. It was a rather large audience... and after a bit of waiting, a man came to the front and started speaking about the movie we were about to see, informing us that we were the very first audience in the WORLD to see Elizabethtown! The film is absolutely amazing, I can't even describe it to you. It's definitely Cameron Crowe's best work... and Orlando Bloom's best acting performance by far. You all will be totally blown away. It's so different from Orlando's previous roles... he's absolutely hilarious, but also carries a lot of complexity and depth, a lot of emotion. It's the widest range I've seen him deliver yet. I'd love to go into all kinds of spoilers and specifics of the film, but I think it would ruin the whole experience for you all... it's truly the kind of brilliant film you all need to see yourselves! (and I know you will ) The acting is phenomenal, the music, the setting, the development of the characters... incredible. I can't wait for the world to see this film.

Oh lord. I just got back from the test showing of Elizabethtown, and Oh My God, I am just over the moon at getting the chance to have seen this film. I LOVED IT. Oh god. Let me just state now and for the record: All you people out there who said that Orlando Bloom can't act? You're WRONG. DEAD WRONG. He's good in this, really really good, and his chemestry with Kirsten Dunst is nothing short of fabulous. I want the two of them to run right out and have millions of adorable babies right this second. I love their characters. I love the way that their characters interact. I love love love the phone conversation that they have, and if they cut that from the movie I will CRY.

The really major thing here is that the movie me HAPPY. The ending? Was one of the best movie endings I've seen in FOREVER. I hope they don't change a thing about it. It was also a very very very funny and touching movie, which I honestly wasn't expecting at all. After it was over, my friend Charlotte turned to me and said something like "I can't remember when a movie made me so happy." I agreed, but honestly, I can remember. And it was the first time I saw Garden State, which is really saying something.

Whee! Charlotte and I got to stick around afterward too, part of a group of 30 or so, to give more in depth opinions. Was fun. Got to be opinionated. Flailed 'bout the music. SO GOOD. Will be buying the soundtrack, omg. I'm fond of Charlotte, and fond of this movie and the whole world.

If you've got any specific questions about this, speak up! Because I will answer, I just don't want to bore anyone.

In any case, when this movie actually comes out in September (I think?) GO SEE IT.

ETA: OH. I forgot to mention! Ours was the first public (or semi-public?) showing of the movie, EVER. HOW COOL IS THAT???

I just saw the first studio screening for Elizabethtown! It was held at a theater, here in Roseville, CA. It was FANTASTIC! Everything was great.. The humor, the story line... The music was great! I found myself tapping along with songs.. It just all worked for me, and I'm not a fan of comedies.

Orlando really demonstrated what a talented actor he is. He was very expressive and funny throughout the film. Drew is nothing like any of his other roles, and he just shines. Dunst was good too.. There were a few times I thought she was a bit over the top, but this is the first showing of the film.

The movie was 30 minutes late getting started, so the studio paid for all the snacks. A lot of people were taking advantage of this, and nearly cleaned out the snack bar. We were there for over 5 hours, so those extra snacks did come in handy.

I'll stop here. Don't want to spoil it for all of you.. I just know you're going to love it!
