Question(s) regarding the website itself
Hello Adam,
My compliments, again, for what you have been able to do. I hope the website and its messageboard will both serve their purpose well.
I have a question, though, that I hope you can answer.
What would you say will be the time it takes, in general, for the map with Gareth's route and also for the tracker-map, to load?
Contrary to when the trial-version of the site was still running, I meanwhile have great problems to make those two maps visible on screen.
I realise I'm not always on a fast internetconnection. But please give an indication, also for other readers, of the time it may take to load those maps.
Thank you & kind regards,
mieke

Re: Question(s) regarding the website itself
The two maps were constructed using Flash MX. Due to the fairly large size of the image it can take a couple of minutes to load. Once you have loaded the maps the first time, subsequent loading times should be almost non existent.
On a very slow internet connection, it should still take no more than a few minutes.
If you do continue to have problems, please persist.

Any other photo(s) of Gareth?
Hi Adam,
Thanks for the reply about loading the maps.
A new question:
Would it be a good idea to see if you can add one or two more photos of your brother on the website, in one of its sections or in a new section?
His picture on your homepage is a pérfect one for those who may have seen him trekking, to recognise him. This was made quite clear in one of the eye-witness reportings. But could it be worthwhile to add some photos too, of Gareth in different circumstances, and showing his face from a different angle (from aside, especially)?
I'm thinking of relaxed situations in lodges, where he was seen reading f.e., and where his features may have looked slightly different due to the light there, f.e.

Re: Any other photo(s) of Gareth?
Unfortunately, well as far as I am aware, we have no photos of Gareth from Nepal. Any photos that were taken of him were with his camera, which is obviously missing with him.
I do intend to upload a photo that the Thames Valley Police have 'doctored', showing what Gareth may look like with a beard.
Hopefully contributors to this board may be able to provide us with photos from Nepal.

Re: Any other photo(s) of Gareth?
Adam I'm not especially thinking of photos while he was in Nepal. I understand that problem.
I think "any" other, suitable photo (as long as it's not from years ago, of course) may help to jog people's memories.
I.e. the memory of people who have been in Nepal from Kathmandu to EBC b/f from February 20 onwards, and especially in the Khumbu on and after March 8 and during the rest of that month.
Please think this over.

TOTALLY OFF-TOPIC REPLY
Hi David,
Looking at your beautiful Bravenet-counter on the main website just now
I wonder how you feel about the one I suddenly discovered on a circus-site this morning:
We have a lóvely circus over here this weekend, and in spite of the high temperatures they managed to sell out twice yesterday. Which is why I'm "in the mood", and now scrolling circus websites!
:-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Ermm... you súre??
You see, I've wórked for that circus back in the early 1990s,
although I'll admit my name isn't Natacha...
But it all brings back gréat memories, with or without monkeys around!
