posticon #38 Synopsis

Spotlight on Chi-Yun! Everything you wanted to know, and a few things you didn't, in an issue that could only be called... Change.

A great change letting characters show the none combat abilities. And how cunning to develop a character who isn't even present!

In hindsight, I can believe thats exactly how Chi-Yun was educated. I'm surprised she turned out so balanced!

So how's her name got male and female aspects.

Hmm. Do you get commission on the number of Scooby Doo references?

I believe thats the first time one of the party has referred to themselves as superheroes. Are they going to get costumes?

Wahey! The return of my fave hero and villain, Don and Doyle!
(I'll let you decide which is which).
Most excellent!

Well, sufficient for me to forgive the Scooby Doo references. If there was ever a cartoon I truly loathed...
Hanna & Barbera damn them! They evidently weren't satisifed with screwing up Tom & Jerry!

Wow, that was a peculiar tangent even for me.

Her full name is Yun Yan-Chi. (This has never been mentioned in the comic. I decided not to go into a full explanation because it would too boring, but since you asked...)

Yun is obviously a family name (hence Grandfather Yun). So her personal name should technically be Yan-Chi.

Yan is a female Chinese name.

Chi or Chih is a male Chinese name.

For reasons known only to her (and trust me, it's better to keep it that way), she keeps the male part and combines it with the family name to give the "personal" name Chi-Yun.

Why keep the male part and not the female? Hmmm... is "she" trying to say something...?

Disclaimer: these names came out of a book and haven't been verified by any real Chinese speakers so the above may be complete rubbish.

Disclaimer 2: the full name and accompanying explanation was a late addition to the character; originally she was just "Chi-Yun", named after a blend of tea... emoticon

Chi-Yun has been pushing for code names and costumes since back in
issue 14. Pity she'll never see it come about now emoticon

But nice observation about Sara calling herself a superhero. Would you believe it was an entirely subconscious word choice?
