#32: Writer's Comments
The tough part of this issue was deciding how much of Astra's story I should tell. She's a fairly minor character in the lives of the Heroes. But she's a pivotal character in the history of the Universe, so there's a lot of story to tell. And, to be honest, she's one of my favourite creations so I'm a bit biased. I've spent 20 years writing her story, and the temptation to squeeze as much of that as I could into this issue was almost too much to resist.
But it's not her comic, so I tried to limit myself to those bits you needed to have to understand her actions, and to begin to understand what's happening in this storyline (don't worry if you haven't got it all figured out, there are many more revelations to come next issue). Some of her comments might seem irrelevant, but it's not all self-indulgence -- all of it will be important eventually. Honest.
This is one of my most dialogue-heavy issues, weighing in at six and half thousand words, and some pages have far too many captions. I can get away with it in the script, but I pity the artist who ever has to try to fit pictures around all those words. To compensate, next issue will have no dialogue at all. (You think I'm kidding?)
Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. But next issue will be better...

Re: Writer's Comments
Hey, I like loads of dialogue. Especially when it's packed fulla gems like this;
CHI-YUN:
You ever feel that there's a secret superhero club everybody is in except us?
FRED:
That's not a club I want to be in.
As for the mystic lass I reckon you left just enough in to be interesting and let us know why she's in this issue in this first place.
And anyway, by long held convention any time you get "magic" in a story, you really do need some kind of obscure and generally uninformative adviser.
Cos that's the rules...
