Things to come... (#33)

There are three more issues to come in volume three.

#34, Strikeforce, will conclude the four-part "Avatar" storyline. It will be a giant-sized issue, as befits such a cataclysmic event in our Heroes' journey.

#35, Thanksgiving, will be a low-key epilogue to the "Avatar" events, tidying up some loose ends while giving the Heroes a bit of R&R -- and one last surprise revelation.

#36... for security reasons, I can't tell you the name of this issue. It's going to be another flashback to the past (oh no!) so I expect readers will hate it, but it's a story I want to tell because it's integral to the characterisation of one of our regular cast members.

That will complete the third volume but the Heroes' story is nowhere near over. Volume four kicks off with a shocking upheaval and guarantees that (I've always wanted to say this) Nothing will ever be the same again!

And Don comes back! Yay!

The "volume" designation is mainly arbirtary and comes from a time when I held the vain hope that I could produce 12 issues a year (1 volume = 12 issues). These days its main use is that I can conveniently fit 12 printed issues in one ring binder. Still, I keep some "rules" in mind for volume divisions. A volume shouldn't end on a cliffhanger (though it can end with a question). Ideally it should end on an "upbeat" note... though I'll leave it to readers to decide whether issues 12 and 24 were upbeat. And I can see a different underlying theme (or maybe premise) in each volume... again, I'll leave readers to judge whether that's true or just wishful thinking on my part.

Hmm. Not sure what the point of writing all this was... oh well...

I were completely ignorant of these "rules" regarding volumes 'til now. So that's how they work!

Mind, the end of #12 could take a bit of work to interpret as "upbeat" to some. Though being a "glass half empty" kind of a bloke meself I could manage that.

As for the end of #24 that was so cheesily optimistic it made me want to honk!
(That's hurl or throw up for those in possession of different English dialects).
Sorry, Major D has that effect on me. He's just that good! (Take that any way you like!)

But I am looking forward to the return of Don. He's pretty cool for an old guy who crashes things!

And shocking upheavals where nothing will ever be the same again? Can't wait...
