What is the USAF doing making power infantry anyway?

It's not power infantry, it's a personal multi-role combat aircraft.

Well, that's how I figure Lockheed sold the concept anyway.

And it makes just as much sense as having the air force controlling the Stargate...

Stargate obviously belongs in strategic transport command which will be airforce.

Flying tank, sold to highest bidder.

Stargate should have been navy. Air forces never go to space (I don't know why though).
