Pick a subject...
This is where my loyal readers get to pick what I write about!
I'm planning a series of "essays" on various background topics that arise from the comic. The sort of things that get mentioned in passing but which the storyline doesn't allow me to cover in any depth.
Instead of me picking a random topic to write about, I invite readers to name a topic they want to hear about. You pick it, I'll write it.
To make a request, simply put it in a reply to this post.
Some rules:
1) It's got to be something from the comic. A person, a place, an event, an idea -- anything, as long as it's been depicted somewhere in the comic.
2) Only one topic at a time! This means that after the first topic request is posted here, you're not allowed to post any more! Once I've written the essay, I'll call for more topics. (If that means you're never getting to make a request because another reader always gets in there first... you'll just have to visit the forum more often .)
3) I'm not going to reveal things that I intend to cover in future plots. So you're probably safer asking for things from back issues than from current issues. But if you're not sure, just ask and the worst I will do is say "no".
I'm not going to commit to how many essays I will write or how quickly I will produce them. Obviously the issues themselves will take precedence if there's a deadline crunch. But with any luck it should mean I'm publishing something fairly regularly on the off-weeks between monthly issues.
I think that covers it. I'm not sure if this exercise is going to be worthwhile, but I'll try it for a while and see what happens.
Ok, first topic?

The monks order that Spirit seems to be a part of. Decided to ask this after checking out the very first issue.

Monks
Well, that wasn't too bad. I won't promise the next one will be as quick but... next suggestion?
Actually, the rule "anything, as long as it's been depicted somewhere in the comic" should logically be extended to "anything, as long as it's been depicted somewhere in the comic or another background essay. But that will probably lead in some very irrelevant directions...

Re: Pick a subject...
Well, that were intriguing...
I shall resist the urge to enquire further into the listed members of the Order of the Dragon.
I'll not even ask about Parsifal! Yet.
So I think I'd like to know a bit more about Troll Rock!
(Assuming this is the right place to ask).
Cos if Fred likes it, it's got to be "cool".

I haven't abandoned this, I just held off for a week while I got Issue 35 out of the way. So, enjoy...

Cheers Dave!
Ooh aye, sounds like Fred has exquisite taste.
And it seems the very opposite of the kinda stuff you'd like. You picking on anyone in particular?

Time travel.
How did the heroes travel back to the pre-event era.

Re: Pick a subject...
Wow, why don't you ask for something difficult?
Ok, as soon as I get issue 36 up I'll tackle (gulp) Time Travel...

Okay, I'll think of a difficult question.
