Don had a spotlight issue fairly recently (Whatever Happened to Don?) but I've always wanted to do a story of his younger days. With the group resting between storylines, and Huey to use as a narrative device, this seemed like a good opportunity.

Writing a 16-page fight was a lot harder than I anticipated. Because I didn't just want a fight, I wanted character growth and plot advancement -- doubly difficult when the story is set 25 years in the past! And I wanted enough substance there that the reader wouldn't feel cheated (as I sometimes do when I pay for 22 pages of big action panels that I read in under five minutes).

I'm not sure if I accomplished the goal, but the actual word count of the script is about the same as my more "talky" issues, so there must be something of substance there.

And if not, well I still had fun coming up with words for all those sound effects emoticon
