Announcements: Important:HVEL will be relocating to a Proboard, which is currently under construction. It's been great here, hosted by runboard, and this was a great way for me to start out, but due to the more advanced, efficient, manageable, and interchangeable features, I have decided to move HVEL to there. This board will always be here, as a sort of museum to the past HVEL and the promise of the future.

I begin my work.

Today, I just began a very complicated project. I'm now in the process of writing the liberetto for an opera I someday wish to compose.
Help? Suggestions?

Holy crap I'm so impressed! emoticon You're writing an opera, wow!

I don't know anything about writing operas, but I do know a little bit about writing. Why not lay out the plot of your opera first? Put down notes on major plot points, and how you want it to end, etc.

Then you can write the liberetto with all your plot twists in mind. Just an idea.

Erm... what's a liberetto? emoticon

Thank you. That's why I have this thread. I want it to be a new kind of opera. No tragedy, and not too much comedy.

Wow, that's cool! Many years from now composers will say how they wrote a Siggien Opera. emoticon

What is it about? Do you have a basic plot outline? Not to harass you or anything, I'm just curious as to how far along you are.

I'vegone nowhere. I think it will be a while before I get any ideas.

Well at least you know what type of opera you want to write. There's a lot of ways to approach idea-gathering.

You could think of how you want it to end, and then build the events leading up to that point.

Or you could think of your main character(s) and think of ideas surrounding what happens to them, and their flaws and strengths.
