Please (and this is to all members) refer constantly to the Announcements marquee (directly below), The Hidden Valley Telegram Forum (News), and the rules forum for updates. Also, be sure to visit the Hidden Village Website every now and then (no reason). Announcements: Important:HVEL will be relocating to a Proboard, which is currently under construction. It's been great here, hosted by runboard, and this was a great way for me to start out, but due to the more advanced, efficient, manageable, and interchangeable features, I have decided to move HVEL to there. This board will always be here, as a sort of museum to the past HVEL and the promise of the future.

posticon Hubcap III - Nurvingiel's MSTs

If you like the "Lord of the Rings" and/or MSTs, come check out my website!

Nurvingiel's MSTs

For those of you who do not know of the somewhat obscure genre of "MSTing", an MST is a certain way of making fun of text or video in a light-hearted way. It started with a television show called Mystery Science Theatre 3000 (or MST3K for short). The show is about a scientist who is doing an experiment on two robots to see how long it will take them to go insane from watching awful B-rate movies from the 1970s. To keep their sanity, they make fun of the movies by inserting their own humorous lines into the movie's dialogue. The show's characters change quite a bit over the seasons, but it is always about making fun of bad movies. This is called "MSTing" because of the show's name.
Now, people use this technique to make fun of bad fanfiction by inserting their own lines into the text of somebody's story. The story itself isn't changed, just interrupted.
There's two links to websites about the original MST3K show in the Link section at the bottom of the main page of my site.

In addition to two MSTs, my site also features links to several excellent Tolkien websites, as well as links to quality fanfiction (it is out there). This among many other features!

I advise people to go here. This is a seriously cool website.

I agree. It is well worth it. I haven't had a chance to read all of it, but it's cool all the same emoticon.

I've joined and it's great. But first, read the MST's, they're so funny.

It does help to read the MSTs, which I hope you enjoy.

I want this board to be about MSTing in general, so reading any MSTs is a plan. emoticon
