Announcements: Important:HVEL will be relocating to a Proboard, which is currently under construction. It's been great here, hosted by runboard, and this was a great way for me to start out, but due to the more advanced, efficient, manageable, and interchangeable features, I have decided to move HVEL to there. This board will always be here, as a sort of museum to the past HVEL and the promise of the future.

I agree, the movies look much better when you don't think about the books.

However, there are still some bad elements to the movie when you do this. That's why I wondered if it does, in fact, suck.

But maybe that's the book talking... emoticon

It's just someones interpretaion of LotR.

You donn't have to, but imagine trying to get all of LotR onto screen.

I don't expect the exact book up on the screen, but what does make the cut, I expect to be Canon.

What I mean is, Jackson shouldn't have made up scenes, especially one's that did nothing to help characterisation or the plot, etc.

The Flight to the Ford is used a lot for an example of an awful scene (for good reason IMO). But what about the Dwarf-tossing scene at Helm's Deep? Gimli is noble, brave, and dignified. Jackson had no reason (that is any good) to portray him otherwise.

This is my main issue with the movies, not that massive cutting of scenes (though FOTR could have had at least a little more on getting out of The Shire.)

What did annoy me was the elves turning up at Helms Deep. Where was the great defence of the Rohirrim.

And Erkenbrand should have arrived instead of Eomer who should have already been at Helms Deep.

You're right about Eomer Telcontar. He got shafted!

Helm's Deep was completely messed in the movies. I loved that chapter in the book, but I was actually bored during that part of the movie. emoticon

Boring and Tolkien do NOT go together.
