Announcements: Important:HVEL will be relocating to a Proboard, which is currently under construction. It's been great here, hosted by runboard, and this was a great way for me to start out, but due to the more advanced, efficient, manageable, and interchangeable features, I have decided to move HVEL to there. This board will always be here, as a sort of museum to the past HVEL and the promise of the future.

I love football! I played for ages, but I don't play anymore.

Have you ever played goalie? I used to play that, and defence.

I think goaltending is all about angles. Positioning in the crease is ultimately, the angles between you, the other player(s), and the goal. And boy, do you ever know when you're out of position! What a powerless feeling. (So is being scored on. I was once scored on by my own defenceman, who interestingly turned out to be a brilliant player 2 years later.)

I play centre midfield. Great position as you do everything everyone else (apart form the goalkeeper) does.

Why thank you! One would hope I would know what I was talking about - I played goal for ages.

My illustrious career started when I was 8 or 9, when our team's goalie turned out to be afraid of the ball.

I never liked wearing goalie gloves, but once I was about 13 I really had to start wearing them. Once we got around that age people could really crank it, and boy does it sting to stop the ball bare-hands.

Our teams gloves were always too big for me though. I don't know why I never bought my own.

How did you break your leg!? emoticon

I love playing goal keeper every now and again. Our keeper can't play in the next match so hopefully I will.

Hum…a bit embarrassing really. I was playing football on the schoolyard, and running all along the edge of the yard is a 6ft drop, which leads to the Tennis courts.

This drop normally has a fence guarding it, but this one day the fence was being replaced. I ran towards the drop after the ball, stopping just in time, but two fellow players ran into the back of me…we all fell, and me being at the bottom bore the brunt of the fall…A double fracture of the leg and badly broken ankle!
