Wazzup??? (Several questions...)

The Evil Black Box has been down for a month and a half--what's going on? Did anyone make it to the hillclimb? I had to go to KY for a funeral on Saturday and wanted to come watch the Pro's on Sunday but couldn't get out of bed that morning (all day road trips do that to me).

Any word on the new tracks?

Does anyone think the new Yamaha 110 will go over as big as the Kawie did? Will Honda finally respond with a long-overdue replacement for the CRF-70 with a similar bike?

C'mon, talk to me!!

Okie-dokie, the box is alive again, after over a year and a half of up-and-down time, thanks to a new motherboard and my incredibly patient wife. She sat in front of this damn thing for days and finally got it tuned in again. Me, I was ready to add it to the pile of targets down at my range.

Anybody riding? My Old Buddy Al brought his restored SL-70 over Dec. 30 and we bulled our way along the creek near my place to an incredible BMX track the locals have built. Supposedly they did it all by hand but I suspect a bobcat may have helped at some point. Regardless, it looks like something from 50 Nuts or Third Gear Pinned and I just wish I was 16 again and had the balls to attempt these jumps.

The area along this creek had grown completely shut since no one rides there anymore. I've been riding there on-and-off for over 36 years but nowadays without any bike traffic it turned into a jungle. I had a pair of pruning snips with me and we managed to poke a tiny hole through the overgrowth to make it to the BMX track. On New Year's Day my buddy Dave O. brought his chain saw over and went nuts--now you can damn near drive a 4 x 4 through there. Our eventual goal is to re-establish the trails and create a loop for the minis similar to what existed over thirty years ago. Anyone up for some urban trail riding?

What's the latest on new mini tracks? I got an email about the Marion Co. Fairgrounds speedway track but there was no mention of any moto happening. Barring that anyone interested in an adult mini roundy-round class, assuming they'll let us do it?

Project-wise I'm building a 70 with a new GPX 140 motor for a buddy--while he spends the winter in Florida! About once a week a box arrives with more stuff for the little bugger. So far it hasn't drawn blood from anyone but it has a habit of standing straight up when you wack it, especially for those not used to riding minis. He considered the new 150cc KLX/Honda style motor but I cautioned him from doing it since I didn't know how it would hold up. Supposedly you can take them to 178cc but the only kit I've seen, from Honda Trail Bikes, is a 165. The motor he bought came with a cut-down oil slinger, an internal rotor ignition and an oil cooler along with the standard stuff that comes with a motor kit for $450. I've got that much in my stroker crank and close-ratio tranny...

C'mon, somebody out there is still playing with minis--talk to me!! Even if there isn't any racing happening the coolest thing about the little buggers is they make the world a bigger place to ride. Places that a big bike would be too much or boring are a total challenge on a mini. Get out there and throw some dirt!!!
