Mitchell R/East Prong Cranefly size 18 5-8-2006
This fly is a cranefly, and although few folks pay much attention to them, they are at times trout food. The larva is a dirty cream to dirty white, and the adult looks like a willowy mosquito, with dangly legs and wings. They are usually a orange to creamy orange. That's one more reason to have plenty of sulphurish patterns--that is yellowish/orange to orange patterns in the box. This fly is an 18, but they are also common in size 16.
