Upper New, Helton, B Horse Sulphurs #16
These flies poured off the last several days in the upper NF drainage. Here the valley floors are near 3000' or more and the elevation makes for later hatching, probably 1-2 weeks after other valley floor waters. This is a water temp issue, as things are cooler here and it takes a while longer for these waters to reach ideal temperature. The bug below is ephemerella invaria, "Sulphur", size 16. This fly hatches in good numbers, and sometimes the spinner falls rival that of what is found on tailwater rivers. A sight to behold!
