PALE EVENING DUN NYMPH

This is a Epeorus vitreus nymph, aka. the Pale Evening Dun that hatches during summer months late in the evening. It is a fast water clinger nymph, as you can see by its flat shape and powerful legs. Interestingly, this fly emerges or hatches on the bottom and rides to the surface a winged insect. A good emerger or light wet fly works great. Al Caucci's book Hatches II---has a great piece on it. They are found in the fastest of streams.
