South TOE River Yancey County
Trip to South Toe R. and Upper/Lower Creeks, with Greg Williams, Greensboro,NC, we arrived early on what was to be a scorcher---it was hot. We caught a few small rainbows to start on the upper fly fishing section of the river, first on nymphs (size 18 or 20 Copper John a killer) then Greg caught several more on dries, one of which was a rainbow that was in inches of water and on the bank. We finished the day on the lower river and caught a few more little guys. The river was in pretty good shape as to the level, and very clear as it normally is, with the high sun the fish were VERY spooky.
