Greetings to all from carpin fool(newbie).Recent trips have been awesome.double digit days of carp ranging from 3-12lbs have made clients quite pleased. The lakes around Charlotte have produced well.Stealth and clean water are the key.Tailng fish from daybreak til about noon or so depending on temps.Eating most flies presented correcly.Remember less is better when it comes to "carolina bones'.Drop me a line to get out there on my hells bay.you will feel like your poling in Fla.

Re: carp on the fly

What flies do use to catch carp? I know there are some in a bass lake I go to. I do not have much luck in getting strikes.
Thanks

First thing to figure out is the type on carp you are seeing. If they are shiny/silver in color, more than likely they are grass carp.grass carp are vegeterians.Try a white cdc fly or a small bead chain charlie. They can be toughbut can be caught. If they are common carp(golden and have barbels),your in luck.these fish tail like a bone and fight like a red.find FEEDING fish and put it in front of them with little strips.try a foxee red clouser .PAUL

Thanks for the information. I have the feeling they are grass carp but I will try to notice a little more closely the next time I am out.
