Ashe County 7-12-2006
Guided Trip NC, Matt Smith, Pleasant Garden, NC, upper North Fork New and Three Top Creek, which was quite low, Long Hope Cr, Big Horse Cr, Ashe Co. Started the day with two huge rainbows from Long Hope, probably 16" and round as a football. Three Top fished pretty slow, had some rises to the Beetle that were small browns, and later decided to head over to Big Horse. The conditions on Big Horse were good, we caught several native rainbows, mostly on a large Elk Wing Caddis with a #18 CJ Dropper, a deadly combo on wild fish this time of the year. The last fish was a feisty rainbow, a nice fish for Big Horse, and after about a 30 second fight actually broke us off!
