I Survived a Japanese Game Show returns for a second season

ABC here in the USA has announced on October 10th that there's going to be a second season of I Survived a Japanese Game Show. Casting is now going on for airing this summer, and the contestai must have a valid US passport, be 21 years and older and be available in March and April. I'll have a link to the info for you later.

They just started showing the first season here.
We're really lucky about these shows, it's just couple of our few channels that have chosen to have the whole bunch of these programs: TC, NW, Banzuke, Hole in the Wall and I Survived...

I only ever saw little clips. From what I saw I didn't like it emoticon

The games looked a bit naff and repetitive, so probably boring. From the clip I've seen of series 2 it looks like they're going to use lots of the same old games!

The Japanese audience was emoticon. They were either all actors and told be act like complete over-excited idiots or were a real audience and also told to act like complete over-excited idiots. NO audience on any Japanese show I've seen act like that. They act like any normal audience in any country.

That was something I thought as well. Maybe the show isn't really produced in Japan, but in America. You could see at the beginning of the show the contestants in Tokyo, and in my eyes it didn't look real and I thought they used a bluebox.

I've never seen any part other than a few seconds of the games, so I don't know about the bits outside the studio.

I saw a clip ages ago of them doing a baby themed game. 25 seconds of it was about them wondering what the next game was about, and 5 seconds of one of them trying to get as much milk as he can into a container... but there's a catch! He has to hop across some boing platforms to it, and he can't accidently fall 20cm onto the floor!

I haven't seen much of outside-things either. The scene I refered to was part of a trailer - so it could be possible that only that scenes were produced in a bluebox.

I watched the whole show.
It was acutually pretty good apart from the elimination process was very biased against the women. Because the losing team choose 2 of its members to go into the elimination game each week, they nearly always voted for women. And in the final episode one of the games was just a strength game.

Hopefully the elimination format will change for the second series (Like one girl got sent to elimination 3 times in a row. :/) and it becomes a whole team game thing. Voting = lame.

As for the rest of the show, it was actually really cool. Most of them were loud over the top americans who knew nothing about japan so they went and learnt about their culture and stuff. It's a good show.

What about the spaz-out audience though?

They're not in it for more than 30 seconds of the 45 minutes and definately not worth dismissing the show over Mr.Dan.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rose_d%27Or

It actually won the Rose d'Or award for best reality show and best overall show of 2009 (despite airing last year).

I believe all the episodes can be found on youtube so if you get chance, give it a go, it's actually pretty cool.
