posticon MASSIVE Graduation

/kicking out.
Thankfully not MM, but:
ALL graduated MM members who are still in the H!P (Yuko, Kaori, Nacchi, Kei, Mari, Rika, Yossy, Tsuji, Konno, Makoto and Miki), and everyone else 'older' than MM (including Mai and Aya).

emoticon

I know this will probably mean nothing to anyone else, but all I can says is... WOW.

I don't understand why they're getting rid of everyone who's pretty much built up the company's image over the years, and no way did I ever think they'd get rid of Yossy, Rika, Nacchi, Yuuko, Aya or Mai.
Yossy, Rika, Mari and Mai are still really popular, Nacchi too I guess. And Yuko is Yuko, she's the mother of it all. Aya is a main stay too.

I guess though, a lot of them are just about TV these days - Mari and Mai especially. But surely that makes the company a lot of money?

This = BIG shock.

Still, I've got a bad feeling this will be followed up by some Morning Musume graduations to create some new soloists/elder groups. I just hope not, though it's inevitable.
It's been a whole year and a half without a graduation, well over that since new members, which is weird anyway. I've been expecting it for ages, yet they've survived again!! Yay.

One good thing. Ayaka left herself before she got pushed in this cull. WOO! emoticon

Is there any official statement why they were kicked out?

And how does that H!P actually work? emoticon Well, there are several groups (e.g. Morning Musume), but are there any connections between them?

Yossi, Rika and Nacchi are a big shock to me.

Like they're so ace. Does that mean they'll have to find new company/agents?

I guess. But I still can't believe they're getting rid of EVERYONE but MM, Berryz and C-ute.

Had a search and I've found one from Tsunku (the 'face' of the management) and Yuko:

have some important news to share.

All members of H!P Elder Club, namely Morning Musume OG (Nakazawa Yuuko, Iida Kaori, Abe Natsumi, Yasuda Kei, Yaguchi Mari, Ishikawa Rika, Yoshizawa Hitomi, Tsuji Nozomi, Konno Asami, Ogawa Makoto, Fujimoto Miki), Inaba Atsuko, Satoda Mai (Country Musume), Melon Kinenbi, Maeda Yuki, Matsuura Aya, Miyoshi Erika, Okada Yui and Ongaku Gatas, will be graduating from Hello!Project on 31.3.2009.

Most of theses girls have already graduated from Morning Musume and other groups.
They have been appearing on stage since they were teenagers.

After the 10th year anniversary has passed, they have realized that it is necessary to smash through the stereotypes that have been built up for them by now, and find courage to begin a new path towards their future careers.

Personally, I have big expectations for their future efforts, and I would like to announce my support for these girls.

I also hope you will keep supporting both current Hello!Project members and the members who are going to graduate.

Hello!project producer Tsunku

Nakazawa Yuuko's comment

Effective from 31.3.2009, H!P Elder Club members will be graduating from Hello!Project.

Since my graduation from Morning Musume in 2001, I have been in charge of the leader position in H!P.

H!P has been a place where we have been putting all out efforts into creating and expressing songs and performances.

Now it is time for every member to leave this place and take a new step forward, but we will definitely keep putting all our efforts to bring you dreams and excitement.

As for the future of H!P, our juniors (kouhai) will take over and carry on that spirit. Please give them even bigger support.

Nakazawa Yuuko

So basically that doesn't say much!

Interesting Tsunku said "they have realised". They? All of them decided this at once? Hmmm. Okay emoticon

There used to be connections between all the groups and once a year they became three 'shuffle groups'. Basically members from all the groups were split up and made into three one-off groups to release a song each, and sort of had a battle to see who could sell the most singles. But they've not done that since 2005 emoticon

There still are some groups like this. High King was made as a one off group a couple of months ago with Ai, Reina, a Berry, a C-ute and an Egg. And earlier in the year Nacchi and Maimi from C-ute released a duet. And Buono! is made of two members of Berryz and one from C-ute, and they're now a permanent group, while the members are still in their original groups too.

It's all pretty complex stuff emoticon It interests me anyway.

So what now, eh? As in what happens now, not "So what?", obviously.

Re: MASSIVE Graduation

If this was meant to be an April fools joke, they've kinda missed the point. Its been revealed that they're NOT all leaving at all... HUH!? emoticon

Well, everyone listed HAS left the NEW Hello! Project.

1) Hello!Project: will be just Moning Musume, Berryz Koubou, C-ute and the Eggs. And Erina (random Yorosen ending girl).
And now we have:

2) Morning Musume OG: Yuko, Nacchi, Kei, Mari, Makoto, Miki (MIKI'S BACK IN MM, SORTA, WOOZ), Kaori and Tsuji (both still on their indefinite maternity leave, so it's weird they're in there)... Plus Ongaku Gatas (which includes Yossui, Rika. And Mai).
I'm guessing OG stands for Older Generation. AKA everyone who used to be in Morning Musume but graduated. But then weirdly Ongaku Gatas is in there? So that could be what OG stands for. Or it could mean both...

3) Aya Matsuura: Containing Aya, surprisingly enough. And just Aya.

4) Melon Kinenbi: That's just Melon Kinenbi.

So yeah. Tsunku tricked us all! Which is why they should have announced this on 1st April. Dragging it out longer would have made it even more of a surprise too.
But I guessed the "big surprise", so I WIN.

Re: MASSIVE Graduation

Morning Musume OG is made up of all graduated members of the 'real' Morning Musume, plus, weirdly, Ongaku Gatas (another group).

I think it's actually just an "umbrella", like 'Hello!Project', not an actual group. I'm guessing it just lets the older ones free from the stupid "no boyfriends" etc rules as not they're not technically in the H!P.
