Re: Wipeout Australia

Wipeout: The Hits has been scheduled now to air on Saturday 13th June:

Join your hosts James Brayshaw and Josh Lawson for tonight’s special episode which highlights the top 20 spills, face plants and wipeouts from the past season of Wipeout Australia.

Saturday is pretty much the graveyard night in Australia, so it'll probably be the last outing for the Aussie series, but speculation is it's being screened in advance of the Aussie screening of the US version of Wipeout. I guess though if Nine get more viewers for the US version, it's rather pointless making their own.

Woo! emoticon I'm really pleased that it's finally going to be on, but at the some time I'm disappointed that this will most likely be the last episode.

It really was the best worldwide version (that's ignoring America, obviously) that I've seen. As you say, it doesn't make sense for them to spend money on making their own if the US show rates better, but it's still a real shame.

James and Josh worked up as good a double act as John and John by the end.
That must be the secret of having a good version. The host's names need to begin with J!

Fingers crosses it gets put online for download somewhere as before.

Dan has uploaded the Australian version on YT emoticon

And I agree with Dan, it was really the best international version so far.

You should see if Watch are considering showing those too? They'd be a lot cheaper to buy than the US show I imagine, and as Wipeout has been doing well for Watch I'm sure the Aussie version would as well.

I wonder if over time the foreign versions might be repackaged in a similar way to Ninja Warrior and broadcast on something like Challenge.

I will ask Watch. Best leave it a few weeks though seeing as I only just asked them about the US series 2!

I thought about a repackaged version before. Call it "Wipeout World" and have clips from international versions with a voice-over, in classic Challenge style.

Like this:

I made my own mini-version in a video on the site last month. The format would work well.

What? You can't show the Austrialian version here! The Australian version is too cheesy! The USA version is much better!

Yeah the American version is better, but the Australian version is the next best one. It was funny.
