I don't know if they could have fitted the Slippery Course into the 'good' course as well as Dizzy Dummy, could they? I can't find the pverhead pictures again to check. They use the same pool in America after all. So, looks like it will just be DD. Which is rubbish.

Maybe they'll use the Dreadmill again, and have new variations?

The overhead pics of the Argentinian courses are here.

Last time around Turkey used the same course as the UK, so it'll be interesting to see which one has been revamped. (If the King of the Mountain is next to the qualifier, it's the Aussie course, if not, it's ours!) They could use the Double Dreadmill I suppose.

BTW, checked the listings and it's on Sunday, not Saturday. Also googling downloads from the first series and it appears each episode is nearly 2 hours long!

Thanks for finding those pictures. They DO have enough room to build another pool in the good side then, so they could have Slippery Course and Dizzy Dummy at the same time. Really doubt they have though, seeing as they've gone for mainly old-new stuff, which is a shame.

Two hours!? Puts Washout to shame! emoticon

I have seen some clips where they have rounds with the contestants just doing one obstacle at a time. That's obviously how they fill the time.
Seen them do the Big Balls one at a time, to see who can get the furthest. Also seen them do Dizzy Dummy obstacles one at a time, to see who can cross successfully.

Actually I think two hours is too long. One hour like in the USA is good.

And it is really a shame that they didn't build the Slippery Course. Way better than the Dizzy Dummy. Maybe they build it, when more countries start to produce their second season. emoticon

Two hours is waaaay too long! I was joking about it beating Washout, as at 1 hour that's too long as well. emoticon

I don't know why these countries have stretched the format out so much.
Well, I suppose seeing as the set it already there it's a cheap couple of hours of TV. Answered my own question emoticon

They could always build the Rocket pool and put a mudpit next to that and use that for the Slippery Course too, as after all it only holds the Spinner and a few podium.

That's true. Wonder if the Rocket will ever make it to Argentina? We'll have new-new-new series 3 obstacles before long. Wonder if they'll skip the Gyro Sweeper, Slippery Course, Rocket and Catapult Zone altogether? Hope not.

Still crossing my fingers that the other course has the Gyro and Catapult Zone, so countries can film some on both courses.

I can understand if they skip the Rocket. It was probably the most repetitive obstacle and the international versions really suffered from that factor. But then they should do the other three obstacles. Especially Gyro Sweeper could easily be built.

A lot depends on how they intend to schedule series. If it's one series a year, they should use as much as possible, but if they have two series a year they will need to hold back somethings for the third series, which I'd imagine would include the Catapult Zone, Gyro Sweeper and Slippery Course.

However, for any series longer than 8 episodes I think it's essential round 2 and especially round 3 have an alternative.

Re: Wipeout around the World

I'm just gonna make a few comments about the Quebec version of Wipeout. First off, there are three half-hour episodes a week. The Monday show is the Qualifier, The Tuesday show is the Sweeper/Dizzy Dummy*, and the Wednesday show is the Wipeout Zone.

I'll take two differences (of what I've seen):

- The Dizzy Dummy obstacles have mini-Spinners at the beginning.

- Five (?!?) people in the Wipeout Zone.

Obstacles of the episodes (and flashbacks from qualifier):

Qualifier: Balance Beams, Punch, Big Balls, Field Goal/Catapult Swing

Dodgeball Sweeper

Dizzy Dummy: Log Crossing(a whole bunch of logs in a row, not sure what they're called),
Doughnuts (first one purple, second one white, third one purple)

Wipeout Zone: Killer Surf, Barrel Run, Water Wall, Spinner, Brusher, Launch Pads.

I'd rate this version a 4/5. Only flaw is that it is in separate shows for each round.
