Wipeout 2010 (Series 3)

So with the second season over, what are you expecting and wanting from series 3?

Starting with the qualfier naturally I'd keep the Big Balls, but I'd make them the Bouncy Big Balls, moving up and down hurtle style. Everything else can go though, including the Sucker Punch, with it back to 4 obstacles each week. Whatever is used last though needs to vary - if they introduce another regular obstacle it needs to be 2nd or 3rd.

Elsewhere I'm not too bothered about the Sweeper - I'd prefer a new round 2 really, but keep the King of the Mountain, varying it more this time.

Round 3 and I'd keep the Slippery Course, ditch the Dizzy Dummy and ditch the Broncho/Rocket, but keep the spinning platform for games more similar to the Cookie Cutter from the pilot.

And of course they'll be a new Wipeout Zone or two as well. As I said in the other thread if they have more episodes next year I think filming in three blocks rather than two might be better, but I wouldn't want three Wipeout Zones. I think having basically one Wipeout Zone, but changing one of the obstacles in each block of episodes would work well enough.

And more generally speaking, just as we've seen the Sweeper crop up everywhere this year (a Sweeper episode is a must surely!), I think next year we'll see a lot of Gyro based obstacles.

Big Balls must be kept, because they are probably the most famous and for sure one of the best obastacles. They should keep the motivator as well. We were promised a twist and Brekkie's idea could be that twist, though I think that it would be better if just two are moving.

I would also see the steps at the end coming back. Climbing up the stairs was always some kind of punishment for the people who missed the final plattform. I think that was better than just swimming out of the pool.

And we need more obstacles, that are more basic and not motor-driven, because they usually provided better wipeouts.

I see a new obstacle for round 2 coming. I can't imagine that they play King of the Mountain again. And I think the Sweeper should remain too, maybe with a new twist.

Dizzy Dummy have to go now. They had their run and version 2.0 didn't provided much more. It really had it's time. And I also agree with ditching the Broncho. It was nice for the first two times it was played, but afterwards it didn't gave us something new.

I don't mind if they have two or three courses again, they should work on a better and fairer penalty system. Skipping an obstacle was often the better move and that is not fair.

I definitely hope there's no regular Qualifier obstacle like the Fender Bender - which never changes. The Swings weren't as bad, as at least there were lots of variations. The Balls will obviously stay, but whatever the second regular obstacle is (seeing as there's always another) I hope it can be modified every episode.

I reckon that King of the Mountain may have been used enough already. Unless they modify it a lot, it is now in danger of becoming boring. It wouldn't surprise me if the Sweeper was back AGAIN though. I don't actually want it to come back as we've seen it enough, but that seems to be nearly as popular as the Balls.

Dizzy Dummy really needs to go. Please! Slippery Course needs to come back though, changed. They could actually put the Sucker Punch in there instead of Branch in the Face. How about having a (lower) Crazy Sweeper at the end, instead of the Spinner? Have a bigger circle of short podiums with a Sweeper arm going around. Actually, it could just be a low regular Sweeper, so it needs to be jumped as they run round the podiums.

I agree, the Bronco shouldn't come back. I'd like another all-new round.

No idea for the Zone, I just look forward to seeing what they come up with this time. But yeah, I hope the obstacles are changed/varied regularly.

I agree with Codex about the simpler non-mechanical obstacles often providing better Wipeouts, and I think a good mix of both is the way to go.

Wouldn't mind the odd qualifier obstacle returning though, like Plank in the Face and the Breakaway Planks. I'm sure we'll have the Gyro-Sweeper Run too.

Series 3 started filming on Tuesday!

Wonder how long it'll be before we get any previews of the new things. Even a photo or two?

Nothing yet, just confirmation of an all new course and a twist to the Big Balls.

Would be good to have a Wipeout Bowl II just to keep us ticking over until next summer and give us a sneaky peak at what to expect.

It's strange that it has all gone so quiet, after we had constants updates and feedback from them for (what seems like) most of the year. You'd have thought they'd post up a sneak photo at least.

The latest thing they posted on Facebook was a Big Ball pumpkin the night before Halloween:

They definitely should have done a Halloween episode. I still think they should have a few special episodes spread throughout the year, so we still get a little bit of Wipeout when it isn't summer. They have the Bowl in February (well, dunno if there is one next year), all they need is a Halloween one in October and a Christmas one in December; then we have Wipeout in February, May - September, October and December.

http://news-briefs.ew.com/2009/11/12/wipeout-contestant-dies/

John, sometime next summer: "In this special episode, only 23 contestants compete for the $50,000".
