Takeshis Castle Back on Freeview
Hi all.
It's been a while since I last visited - sorry for staying away so long.
I see that Challange have been re-showing TC, and are now at an advanced stage in their output.
It appears that Virgin 1 are now re-showing TC at a more reasonable viewing time than before. I was dismayed when Virgin 1 was removed from24/7 viewing on Freeview, only a short while after it had introduced the service. However, it broadcasts from 9.00am in the morning, and since TC is shown two epsisodes at a time from 9.00 till 10.00am, this means Freeview viewers can once again get TC!!!
Yipeee...I can get my daily fix of TC yet again.
For how long, though, given the changes which seem to happen daily to Freeview, I do not know.
It appears some changes have been made to the intro sequence (different cartoon opening titles), and the Virgin Media insignia appears at the end of each episode, rather than Challenge.
Also, I see from the forum, it appears some episodes are now available on DVD. Is this the case?
I am so glad to be back.So sorry I have been away, but now TC is back (started yesterday, with the next two episodes today, all being well) to watch as well.
Kind regards to all forum members!
Tim.

Re: Takeshis Castle Back on Freeview
back!
I'm surprised that they're back on Virgin 1 so soon. I'd have thought it wouldn't have been until next year.
When you get to episode 10, can you see if it cuts to the break too soon? It does on Challenge, so the end of part one is missing. Wondering if it'll happen on Virgin 1 too.
The DVDs are being released in Japan. They're expensive though. The first one is out in a few weeks.

Re: Takeshis Castle Back on Freeview
Hi Dan.
Thank you for the Welcome
My optimism was short lived! I had pre-booked the recordings for quite some time ahead, but they have suddenly changed to 'Home Improvement' from Monday. Does this mean the end of TC on Virgin1 again for a while. As you say, perhaps it was a bit too soon to get the complete works, as it were.
When introducing TC, they always seem to emphasise it's age, and a little negatively in all - perhaps they are not so keen on showing large amounts in one go on Virgin's Flagship channel.
The content on the whole has been poorly edited in places, with Craig's naration being chopped off mid-flight. The episodes seem very short, and the intro has definately been replaced by a new cartoon sequence and closed with the Virgin Media insignia towards the end instead of Challenge TV. Also, the episodes shown so far are definately a bit of a mixed bunch, with no clear adherance to the original four episodes. Maybe they were just airing a 'best of' sequence, before starting in earnest... or maybe not!
Thank you for informing me about the DVDs - I will keep a look out, and would it be possible to update their appearance on the market in the Forum, as appropriate.
Thanks again Dan.

Re: Takeshis Castle Back on Freeview
That's a shame I guess it was just being used as a filler. Although, the fact they're replacing it with Home Improvement suggests not, really - as I'd have said that's a filler too. Strange that they showed random episodes.
It wasn't the Best Ofs, was it (as that'd explain the short run)? Definitely proper episodes, just random ones?
And yeah, the censoring of Craig is TERRIBLE. We've ranted about it numerous times, most recently on our 'Re-watching' topics.
What do they say when introducing it? I've never watched on Virgin 1. They actually mention how old it is?! That's never happened on Challenge. The opposite actually. They used to try and hide how old it is!
I expect you'll only ever find the DVDs on Japanese websites. Amazon Japan is the easiest place to get them from, and the cheapest. You can choose to change the site into English too, which makes it even easier. The first one is out on Friday, so I wonder how long it'll be until it arrives at my door. Not too long I hope, the postage was bloody expensive enough!
