I don't think they sound too much like Pink Floyd. I think they sound just enough like Pink Floyd 
They also sound a bit like several other bands, but it's the Pink Floyd comparison that gets pushed "too much" by promoters.
Gilmour is a huge influence on Bryan Josh's guitar playing (the other influence is Ritchie Blackmore) and his vocal prhasing is also very much like Gilmours. And Mostly Autumn write a lot of long songs with complex instrumental passages. So you can see where the comparisons come from.
