May 12 updates
Well... we've ordered our rings.
Dot's getting this nice 'wrap' style ring. It has two diamonds on the sides and wraps around her engagement ring. A nice little bit of bling bling. ^_^
Mine is a simple gold band... it had to be special ordered because my fingers are fat and stubby. Size 13 1/2. The lady was like "Oh dear, I think we'll have to order that." and I was like "Yeah, I know. Fat fingers." She tried to say that they were muscular because I type so much, but that's BS, she has to be nice and she can't say "DAMN BOY! Are those fingers or chicken wings?"
Then we went and tried out the food for the reception. Mmm... good food. Nice rolls, great salad, chicken nice and cheesy, beef nice and... um... beefy.
For those of you who don't know, when you rent out a room for a reception like that, they let you try out the meals so you can make sure you'll enjoy the dinner.
WEDDING TIP OF THE DAY: Make sure you do try the food and see what Goes with it. We didn't like the veggies and the co-ordinator was more than happy to make sure we got what we wanted.

Re: May 12 updates
Oooooh, sounds nice.
Are you having family style dinner or individual plates? I wrote a little note in our RSVP since Aaron still eats mush, and the girls would never finish adult-size portions.
Mmmmm...food *Homer drooly sound*

Re: May 12 updates
We forgot to ask if the kiddie food (Chicken fingers and fries) will be the same, but it's buffet style.
The main dishes are Carved Sirloin of beef with creamy horseradish (and mushrooms. bleh. We fixed that) and Boneless breast of chicken marinated and topped with prosciutto, Mozzerella and arugula.
WTF is arugula anyway?
Sides are now corn and mashed potatoes. There will also be Lime Marinated shrimp, cheese and teriyaki beef brochettes for appetizers. Salad, and I think mini crab cakes. The rolls were good too.
And of course wedding cake!
Oh... there is a gap of about 2 hours between the wedding and reception... They won't be ready for us then, but the hotel is RIGHT across the street from the beach. Or there's a lobby where people can gather, and a nice little shopping area right down the street (St Armand's Circle I think it's called). We had to time it that way because of getting the reception hall and when the wedding could be.
It gives people time to chill, maybe change (or change their kids), get some fresh air before the reception.

Re: May 12 updates
Buffet style, cool. I can just put less on the kids' plates, and that'll be great.
Now we have to think of a clever gift...

Re: May 12 updates
Gotta love Linens & Things... I wish I could come to your wedding myself also (as creepy as that may seem, being a fan of your comic). I'm finally probably getting a good paying job for the summer... I applied at a place called BDS Marketing (www.bdsmarketing.com) with a recommendation from one of the guys who worked with them when there were just starting up, but who now goes to my college and is a friend of mine.
I'm hoping I get the job... its mostly doing product demos, and teaching the salesmen/women at the stores how the product and its features work, so they can sell it better and help customers. Supposed to be full-time with little need to travel overnight, if at all, and pays by the hour AND an additional by the job.
I'm also going around later today and doing the resume spam around town... probably out on Monday and Tuesday doing it too... lots of businesses around Elk Grove. Bed Bath & Beyond is hiring... I'm trying to get a $9/hr or higher pay, since I qualify for a lot of the jobs that have it, but unfortunately someone way more qualified always gets the job before I do...
Damn, just 4 years ago I found a job in like 2 days, just by asking around, now its like "you must have a doctorate to flip our burgers" cause if you don't, some out of work guy with one will get the damn job even though his education has nothing to do with it.
And then the really good places... like Best Buy, and Borders, which pay really well (Best Buy on floor salesman gets like $14 an hour after 3 month probationary period, no commission) are basically impossible to get hired at unless you have a family member or friend working there already.
Heck, I recognize every damn person at the Best Buy and Borders near me, cause they've only hired like 2 new people each in the last 3 years.
Well, anyways, round about to my point... I'll be seeing about a wedding present, so you're gonna hafta start saying what you want... within a $50 range preferably (I'll front tax if its like a 49.95 thing... like Battlefied 2... *hint hint*). If you want $50 in cash, heck, that's the present I always ask for, and despite what people think, IF I WANTED A DAMN OLD FASHIONED SHAVING KIT, I'D HAVE ASKED FOR IT!
Sorry, nobody ever listens to what I want, and I often pick things cheaper than what they get me... which invariably goes in the trash or in the closet... except my 120GB HD... that I filled with anime (BT = <3) in like 3 days.

Re: May 12 updates
LnT = Linens & Things.
I just know you guys need the Pokemon-themed bathroom set: toothbrush holder, soap dispenser, shower curtain, trash can.
I guess I'd better go return that pallet of Giant Pocky.
Oh, that 2-hour gap between ceremony and reception is supposed to be there for the bride & groom to take photos together in their wedding finery since you're not really supposed to do that beforehand. ^^; People will be expecting it so don't worry about it.
