Battlefield 2

I want this game so bad. Comes out next month.

I really didn't like 1942, and Vietnam was even worse, but I played them because the Tribes 2 (god bless its fired creators) community had died completely, and I really needed a good online shooter game for team based play with vehicles, AND with good bandwidth (which is why I don't play UT 2004 even though it was great)

Battlefield 2 looks like they finally pulled their act together.

The main point of the game now is teamwork... and its ENFORCED (so awesome).

Both sides have a Commander, who is either a voted upon member or the highest officer ranked player who chooses to take the position. They command from either 1st person or a top down sattelite command interface.

They can talk to Liutenants, who each command squads. The players arrange into squads on their own, and then the squads work under their Liutenants. They've added good voice support so it should require little or no typing while ducking behind rocks!

The chain of command isn't the only great feature... the new maps are far better constructed, much more interactable, and the commander can utilize map specific things, such as air strikes, supply drops, sattelite images (to pinpoint enemy locations) to aid his troops.

New and improved vehicles and physics is one thing I'm really looking forward to (I'm a vehicle lover... nothing like a blood splattered windshield!

Its a modern warfare game, rather than a historical war game now, so there's no wishing for newer technology and stuff...

The homing missiles actually home, rather than proximity explode... the helicopters have been tweaked to a level of realism beyond both Desert Combat Mod (1942) and Vietnam (I actually liked DC Mod better), and larger maps and better servers mean more players, and actual flying room for pilots!

Artillery has been changed (supossedly) to make it worth it to be a spotter (without one it was basically impossible to bombard a target and even know if you were hitting within half a mile of it or not).

Everything is being pushed to the levels of the current best wargames, but being setup for a massively online team shooter game, with several new gametypes, and the old ones tweaked, so that maps can actually expand or contract based upon the players and gametype!

Is anyone else looking forward to this game?
