Magic User's Club is teh shiznic.

The hats would be tricky, but the costumes wouldn't be too hard... if they got them done really well though, I'd applaud them... on such a... err, fitted, costume, errors (and lack of fitness too) would show through much more drastically than in my shinigami costume.

things i wished i noticed...

mine was something i wished i seen...

it's from the fansview.com personality of the week.

Will I was in the actors roast room laughing my ass off, something was happening it the masq contest. Apparently a girl named packrat was filling in some spare seconds of onstage time and stepped wrong. It ended up with her breaking her ankle and she acted like nothing happened till she left the stage.

The second thing that happened was something I only witnessed the aftermath of….

*flashback effects*

me and a group of friends were relaxing on the steps (now mind you, the steps in the Hilton area spans 3 floors. If you sit otaku down on the longest step, and have them sitting comfortably shoulder to shoulder. …. You could probably fit about 20 people on just the longest step which is in about a semi-circle.) but I digress…

so, I was looking through my haul of stuff from the dealers room when I heard a resounding BAM!!!!! and a collective OHHhhhhh!!! in stereo surround sound.

I looked up in time to see a girl slowly getting up and limping to the steps, holding a hand over her ribcage.

My husband was cringing. I asked him “wud I miss?”

And he told me…

Apparently, there was a glomp gone horribly, horribly wrong. (I had to explain was a glomp was to him. He only attended a couple of cons and didn’t know all the con etiquette and traditions.)

Like the norm, some girl got in the starter-running position and went at full speed. She launched herself with all limbs horizontal (yep both legs and arms were stretched out in front of her.) Picture a koala on a tree in your head. Well, she hit the poor guy, and this dude must have been made of granite because he didn’t move. Well, she hit full force and then fell backwards. The “bam” we heard was from the connection of her body to his unyielding one. Hence her walking away in pain. She played it off and the next girl got into position. But this time the guy had a plan. As she ran he moved out of the way prior to her getting within 10 ft (to give her a warning) and some guy was in the trip position.

She stopped in time, thou.

Holy crap! What's with the suicide Glompers?

I had one do almost that same thing to me. I forget the costume I was in (Rena?) and this little fangirl friend/fan of mine saw me, shreiked and hyper-glomped me. Luckily I remembered my 3 days in little league football and braced for impact so I didn't fall over.

i've never been glomped with that force before. but i have been bopped in the head by a stuffed gomba.

there was one moment that i saw the cutest little girl cosplaying as rin from inu yasha. she looked like a complete replica, that it was startling. most cosplayers can only aspire to reach her level, and she wasn't even trying. the best part was that she was in character, and i think that was her natural character too. i got a picture with her, (i had to kneel on my knees, she was only about 3'6" or 3'10" tall, maybe. she even had a gap toothed grin.

i had way too many girly impulses. i wanted to squeal at her kawaii-ness, and give her a big hug. anywho, afterwards she told me i had to googly (???? at least i think that's what she called it). it consisted of putting your hands close to your face (think of how some people talk about ghosts/spooky things and add a ghostly 'oooooooo'.) wiggling your fingers and saying googy googy googy (like i said, i think this is what was said). i walked away squealing in my head on how kawaii that was.

if i can find a picture, i will link it.
