Fanime Con (Memorial Day Weekend)
I don't think anyone else on the board is going, but I will... its in California... I keep forgetting where exacly, but only like 3-4 hours from Sacramento, so centralish, maybe on the coast.
Anyhoo, a lot of web-comics aparently live in California, cause we get some big guys in the web-comic, err, hobby field.
For example, Megatokyo actually has a shop with walls there for the convention, and the creators sign autographs and accept fan stuff... and pull a pretty penny I bet, cause they get a huge line from what I've heard on the first day or two just to get into the shop.
If anyone is going, I intend to be selling the first volume of my manga... plus I wanna give the Megatokyo creators each a signed copy (almost free advertisement if they like it, right?)
Hope to see someone there! Other than the droves of Otakus and such that gather in hoards around places with 'Con' in the name.

Re: Fanime Con (Memorial Day Weekend)
We met the creators for Megatokyo at Megacon last year...
um... wasn't too impressed.
I think he's gotten too big too fast and don't seem to relate to the fans too great. Maybe he was just having an off day, I dunno. His wife seemed quite a bit nicer and more approachable.
If he takes it, cool, if not, don't be too upset.
...course, you can always plug our comic too while you're out there. ^_-

Re: Fanime Con (Memorial Day Weekend)
And plug I will!!!
If I wasn't intending to be cosplaying the entire time (well, maybe for 2 days, else I'll be one stinky dude)
Ok, I take that back... WHEN I'm not cosplaying, now that I think about it, I'll wear Marachan shirts and stuff.
Don't know about hats... my hair is thick, slightly curly (just enough that it swirls around my head as it grows into a gigantic puffball... funny story one time, I went to the hairdresser after not getting it cut for 5 months... my hair was just under my shoulders, but it hadn't drooped lower than my ears because of its awesome SWIRLING POWERS!!!!)
I can wear shirts (I sure hope I'm wearing a shirt... I'm working out again every day, full body, mostly martial arts and no-weight resistance muscle training (basically, pushing against stuff or yourself to provide the 'weight')
I'm getting into shape pretty fast even though I pulled my right tricep so bad I may have torn it... but that was 3 days ago, and its almost healed.
So I don't want 'Bunny' type girls grabbing me or nothing... if anything is gonna happen, its gonna be my choice, when I'm damn well ready, with someone I care a freaking butt-load about...
Sorry, my friends think I'm wierd... perhaps I'm too much into Shoujo type stuff...
Anyhoo once more, since I keep jumping off track, I'll try to wear Marachan stuff. Plus we intend to mention Mara-chan in an omake (our first volume will be just a little over 100 pages, 5 chapters... we're thinking 1 omake a chapter)
We're also thinking that Mega Ultra Chicken (Aqua Teen Hunger Force) will make an omake appearance. Gotta love 4 storey tall chickens with demon eyes, sheep horns, and a 747 size jet engine on their backs.

Re: Fanime Con (Memorial Day Weekend)
we tried to plug our comic back when we where happy with getting 20 hits a day, he shrugged it off, his wife seemed interested or maybe she was just being polite. it dosn't matter, i don't read any webcomics so the megatokyo panel wasn't the first thing on my list for that con, and i thoguht fred was kinda a jerk. but whats one person when he's got millions of fans. just my opinion of him.

Re: Fanime Con (Memorial Day Weekend)
Sorry. Won't be able to make Fanime because that is the same weekend as Animazement and that's where I'll be. I usually don't cosplay. I like working behind the scenes as a volunteer and spend most of my weekend doing that.

Re: Fanime Con (Memorial Day Weekend)
That's cool... if our manga is looking to be ready before the Con, we're gonna register for then set up a booth and sell it, so I may ditch cosplaying in favor of a shirt advertising our booth at the con.
